As a child of late June I am delighted with your description of the Celtic calendar “People born under the sign of the Wren are considered to be charming, self-motivated caretakers, who prefer isolation and are easily distracted! “ never a truer word spoken🤣. This is such a beautifully written delightfully illustrated piece, thank you.
Thanks Sarah! I don't think I'd been aware of the Celtic Zodiac before researching this piece on the Wren, although I was familiar with the Celtic Wheel of the Year and celebrations (Lammas, Mabon, Yule, etc) - it was very interesting to discover something new!
Love this Ali! The wren is one of my favourites too. We had them nesting in our bird box a couple of years ago and it was very exciting. I also think the huge Latin name is amusing for such a tiny bird with a big character!
Thanks Jane! Yes, exactly that about the Latin name - I'm also not sure why they are 'cave dweller, cave dweller' in the Latin - so good they named it twice?! Or is it just that the Eurasian wrens are particularly inclined to dart into holes and crevices?!
